Notified Bodies Survey
The latest updated version of the Notified Bodies Survey on certifications and applications for Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) was published on 13th March. The survey provides comprehensive insights into the certification and application processes overseen by Notified Bodies.
It is encouraging to once again see an increase in the number of Notified Bodies listed and the number of submissions being made by manufacturers. However, only 37.9% of the total MDR applications submitted resulted in certificates being issued, while for IVDR, the number is slightly higher at 46.8%. From these figures, it is clear that the certification processes are still taking a long time. In fact, the data indicates that the certification processes under MDR and IVDR regulations can range from a few months to over a year, depending on the type of certificate and the Notified Body involved.
That said, no matter what these timelines are, manufacturers still need to make their submissions as soon as possible.

This month’s recipe is a cocktail that is a little different from the traditional, boozy New Orleans drink. A Grasshopper is a minty, chocolatey drink that got its name for its bright green color.
The drink is said to have been invented by Philibert Guichet, owner of a historic bar and restaurant named Tujague’s. Tujague’s originally opened in 1856 but was purchased by Guichet in the 1910s. The cocktail’s exact birthdate is foggy due to prohibition, but legend says that the Grasshopper was invented in the late 1910s by Mr. Guichet while in New York City for a cocktail competition. Guichet's combination of equal parts crème de menthe, crème de cacao, and cream took second prize in the contest, and Guichet proudly brought the drink back to New Orleans. The drink took off around the United States and is still the most popular drink at Tujague’s.
Grasshopper Reicpe:
- 1-ounce green crème de menthe
- 1-ounce white crème de cacao
- 1-ounce heavy cream
Shake well with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
