Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC)
You can’t sell or pilot digital health technologies in the UK NHS and Social Care without DTAC and Clinical Safety compliance!
The Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) is the UK national baseline criteria for new and existing digital health technologies. Each and every digital technology that is procured, trialed or piloted by the NHS or social care needs to “pass” a digital technology assessment. Therefore, this applies to all health IT being used in the NHS and social care settings and not only medical devices.

The Ramos Gin Fizz created by its namesake, Henry C. Ramos, was invented in 1888 and became a sensation. Mr. Ramos was a God-fearing preacher-bartender, prohibition advocate, and owner of the Imperial Cabinet Saloon on Gravier Street in New Orleans – Ironic, right?
The original recipe called for the Ramos Gin Fizz to be shaken for twelve minutes before serving! Legend says that the drink became so popular that Ramos was forced to hire 20 bartenders whose sole duty was to shake the cocktail. According to Stanley Clisby Arthur in New Orleans Drinks and How to Mix ‘Em, Ramos’s team “nearly shook their arms off and were still unable to keep up with the demand."
However, the cocktail’s true rise to fame was thanks to the infamous Huey P. Long. Long loved the Ramos Gin Fizz so much that he often hired a "personal bartender," Sam Guarino, to travel with him. In 1935, Long decided to use the Hotel New Yorker as the backdrop for a publicity stunt whilst rallying against FDR’s New Deal. Surrounded by journalists, Long expounded to ever-growing crowd, contrasting the fine points of the fizz to the dull points of Roosevelt’s plan, calling the President "no good" and a "faker."
The drink has struggled to gain traction outside of New Orleans due to the labor-intensive prep and unique ingredients, but you can find them being served all over the city to this day.
